Turning Red, a 2022 American computer animated fantasy comedy film, was produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It was directed and produced by Lindsey Collins by Domee Shi, her feature director debut. The script was written by Shi, Julia Cho, and Domee Shi. The film stars Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh as well as Hyein Park, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (written by Shi), Wai Ching Ho and Tristan Allerick Chen. James Hong is also featured. Turning Red is set in Toronto, Ontario, 2002. It follows Meilin Lee (Chinese-Canadian 13-year-old student), who transforms into a giant red-panda when she feels strong emotions.

Turning Red Moviehunt Review 2022
This is the first Pixar film to be directed entirely by a woman. The film was inspired by Shi’s Toronto childhood experiences. It began production in May 2018, after Shi pitched it to Pixar October 2017. Several Pixar animators visited locations throughout Northern California to gather visual references. Both the design and animation were inspired from anime works. Ludwig Goransson composed the film’s music with Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell performing original tracks for it.
On February 21st, 2022, special screenings of Turning Red were held in London’s Everyman Borough Yards and in Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox. It premiered at Los Angeles’ El Capitan Theatre on March 1 and was then released in limited theaters and on Disney+ streaming. It was theatrically released in all countries that did not have Disney+ and grossed more than $20 million. It was a box-office disaster, but it received mostly positive reviews from critics.
Meilin Lee (13 years old) lives in Toronto with her parents Jin and Ming. She helps to maintain the temple to Sun Yee and makes her mother proud. Ming is unaware of her private interests, including the fact that Miriam, Priya and Abby love the boy band 4*Town. Ming, a strict and protective person, finds out Mei has a crush on Devon, the clerk at the convenience store. She humiliates Mei in front of everyone.
Mei experiences a vivid nightmare about red pandas that night. She wakes up next morning to find that she is now a large red panda. She hides her transformation from her parents, and she discovers that it only happens when she is feeling intense emotion. Her hair stays red when she returns to her human form, so she wears a touque to school. Ming initially thinks Mei is having her first period. But Ming humiliates Mei at school and Mei transforms and runs home in panic and tears.
