Lightyear is an American computer-animated science fiction action-adventure film that was released by Walt Disney Pictures Motion Pictures in 2022. The film is a spinoff from the Toy Story movie series and the fifth overall installment of the franchise. It features Buzz Lightyear as the main character, and also the film’s representation as part of a franchise within Toy Story films where Lightyear is a key character.

Lightyear Moviehunt Review 2022
It was co-written by Angus MacLane, who directed his feature directorial debut. Produced by Galyn Susman and featuring Chris Evans as the voice of its titular character. Keke, Peter Sohn, Taika waititi, Dale Soules and James Brolin are also supporting roles. Lightyear plays the role of a space ranger, who is trapped on a hostile planet along with his commander and crew. He tries to find a way home, while facing a threat that could threaten the safety of all life.
The idea of Buzz Lightyear (a human Buzz Lightyear) who exists in a fictional world within a fictional world was first presented in 2000’s direct to video film Buzz Lightyear. It was also used as the pilot for the TV series Buzz Lightyear. MacLane, who was a passionate science-fiction fan, suggested the idea of making a film at Pixar about Buzz Lightyear. It would reflect the science fiction films he grew to love, and the animators would give the film a “cinematic”, and “chunky”, look. Michael Giacchino provided the film’s soundtrack.
Lightyear premiered at Los Angeles’ El Capitan Theatre, June 8. It was theatrically released on June 17, 2022 in RealD 3D, 4DX and Dolby Cinema formats. It was also the first Pixar film released in theaters around the world since Onward (March 2020). The film grossed $226million worldwide, despite a $200 million production budget. It received positive reviews from critics. They were impressed by the animation, voice acting, visuals, and score. But they had reservations about its screenplay.
