Farmers Baliram (Kamlesh sawant) are frustrated by poor crops for several years. Baliram hangs his head, in despair of being able to support himself and his family (wife Laxmi (Pallavi Palkar), Vishnu (master Sarthak Patil), Soni (baby Vallavi Deshpande)). Ghorpade (Upendra Lilimaye), a police inspector, arrives to investigate Baliram’s suicide.
Dr. Patil (Sayaji Shinde), a village doctor, is too busy to attend to the post-mortem. Ghorpade, the village doctor and others wait for several hours before bringing the corpse to the hospital. Dr. Patil doesn’t like this and now sees an opportunity to teach Ghorpade. What will happen next?
The story of Maheshwari Chakurkar is very nice. However, the fact that it is about a farmer who commits suicide is not new. Avinash Kolte has some very touching scenes, like the scene in that farmer Baliram compares farmers and police officers. But the screenplay is not always effective. Maheshwari Patil Chakurkar is fair in his dialogues.
Upendra Limaye does an excellent job as Ghorpade police inspector. Kamlesh Sawant plays the role of farmer Baliram. Pallavi Palkar is a good performance as Laxmi Baliram’s spouse. Sayaji Shinde lends good support as Dr. Patil. Ganesh Chaudanshive (as Baliram’s friend Namdev), Pawan Vaidya(as the village Sarpanch), master Sarthak patil (as Baliram’s boy, Vishnu), Baby Vallavi Deshpande (“as Baliram’s girl, Soni”) and Vinay Joshi provide good support.
Avinash Kolte is okay in his direction. Allen K.P. is a good musician, the Shiv Jayanti song however is a little too bland. Amol Deshmukh has so-so lyrics. Background music is routine. Ramani Ranjan Das is a competent photographer. Santosh Samudre is a competent artist. Editing by Ashish Mhatre, Apoorva Motiwale is flawless.
